Gándara Youth Development Center
The center offers at-risk youth in our programs and the community a place where they can access staff who understand their unique needs, socialize with other youth that share similar situations and be referred to educational and preventative programs. It is a warm, welcoming and safe place for youth to access educational and vocational training support, and have a little fun while learning skills towards job readiness and becoming positive community members.
The Youth Development Center has a media literacy studio with production capabilities for music and video recording and podcasts. The center partners with other community organizations such as Girls Inc. and the Lighthouse School for scheduled sessions—as well as serving children in the Gándara Center’s residential programs—and has walk-in hours for other community youth not currently tied to Gándara services. Computer literacy and job readiness skills are also offered. Youth are taught about social media responsibility, they create resumes and LinkedIn pages, and can learn coding.
