Recovery Specialist for Substance Use

Our Prevention Program is in need of a Recovery Specialist for Stairway to Heaven Recovery Support Center.

The Recovery Resource Specialist is responsible for daily operations of an active recovery support center that develops and maintains peer-to-peer support services and activities provided for and by people in recovery from substance abuse. The recovery support center is encompassed in peer governance and uses the peer participatory process to create a safe, inclusive environment to promote ongoing growth and long term recovery.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION for Recovery Specialist for Substance Use

  • High School Diploma

OR

  • GED

 

EXPERIENCE for Recovery Specialist for Substance Use

  • 2 years
    • Solid recovery
  • Have lived experience as an individual affected by substance use in the family

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS for Recovery Specialist for Substance Use

  • Possess a valid MA Driver’s
  • Possess a reliable car and be able to use it for work
  • Have strong interpersonal boundaries
  • Working knowledge of addiction treatment and recovery
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of substance addiction and recovery
  • Have strong interpersonal boundaries

 

RESPONSIBILITIES for Recovery Specialist for Substance Use

  • Responsible for daily operations
  • Manage peer supports and peer activities, including Recovery groups and Telephone Support
  • Responsible for data collection and submission of reports
  • Assist with budget development and fiscal management
  • Assist with grant writing as needed
  • Act as the liaison to the Advisory Board
  • Educate the community on the impact of stigma of addiction
  • Support all paths to recovery and have a minimum of 2 years of solid recovery or have lived experience as an individual affected by substance use in the family
  • Embrace and work in a culturally and linguistically diverse recovery community
  • Networking with the MA Recovery Support Centers and MOAR (MA Organization for Addiction Recovery)
